Maths Mate Term 4 Sheet 7 Question 22

Predict: I predict that this question will be about division and money.

Read: Which deal cost less per litre? A) $32 for 4 litres B) $8.50 for 1 litre

Clarify: I had nothing to clarify in this question.

Mathematician’s toolbox: The strategy I used from the mathematician’s toolbox was to work backwards

Big question: The big question is what deal costs less per litre.

Solve: First, I divided 32 by 4, because it was 4 litres for $32. That was $8, so that meant it was $8 per litre, less than deal B, which was $8.50 per litre. This means that deal A costs less per litre.

Solve: This problem was easy to solve if you knew what to do.
